Well, hello. Welcome aboard! Become a New Yorker is now open for business, or non-business to be precise. (We’re not trying to sell you anything, and yes, we’re one of the few in this town.) This site was born out of an available and fabulously catchy URL, and the general lack of resources for new New Yorkers. Moving to New York is unlike any other transplant experience, or so I’ve been told. I, in fact, am a native of this city, but have found myself friends with quite a few people who were once new to the ‘nabe in my 20-something years. They’ll be writing about their experiences and sharing their knowledge with you here, one post at a time.
What to expect: from New York, just about anything. And from our humble online abode, look for the same. We’ll be covering topics from apartment hunting and transportation, to general grievances and heart-warming moments. Have questions, concerns or stories to share? Find us in the Contact section, and we’ll be sure to get back to you. Unless you seem crazy. Lesson #1 for future New Yorkers: try to avoid those veering towards the edge of insane.
With that, we welcome you to the concrete jungle, and we promise you’ll never look back.
